The braids you have to try and how to do them

If you want to spice up your look from the simple but classic three-strand braid, check out the below; you won’t be disappointed. If you often wear your hair up or are bored of your go-to look, why not try one of the below – they’re easier to do than you think.

Three-strand braid

Let’s start with the most straightforward braid. You probably learned this braid as a child; you only need a comb and a hair tie. Brush your hair thoroughly before you begin, and then divide your hair into three equal sections. Start with the left strand and cross it over the middle strand. Now, take the right strand and cross it over the middle as well, towards the left side. Repeat these two steps until you have braided to the end. Secure your hair with a hair tie.

French braid

This braid is a true classic and keeps the hair off your face, which is ideal for hot days. It’s also perfect for a busy week or school day. Take the front sections of your hair between your temples and divide it into three sections. Braid once to the left and right, crossing towards the middle. With the next section, add a side strand to the braid and continue. Keep going until you reach the nape of your neck; the sides should be fully incorporated into the braid. Now, you just have to braid the remaining length of your hair using the three-strand method.

Tip: Want more volume? Gently pull apart the braid for a voluminous look

Fishtail braid

This braid is often a favourite for special occasions, and for good reason – It looks absolutely stunning. Gather all your hair, create a low ponytail, and divide it into two equal sections. Take a small strand from the outer side of the left section and bring it to the centre, adding it to the right section. Now, take a small strand from the right side, bring it to the centre, and add it to the left section. Repeat these steps until you run out of hair. Secure with a hair elastic.

Twisted braid

It doesn’t get easier than this! All you need are two hair elastics. Create a ponytail; the height is up to you. Divide the ponytail into two sections. Twist the two sections around each other clockwise until you reach the end. Secure with a hair elastic.
