Pretzels with basil

Ingredients for 8 pieces:

  • 4 fl. oz milk
  • 4 fl. oz water (at room temperature)
  • 0.25 oz yeast (dried)
  • 14 oz flour
  • 1.5 oz unsalted butter
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 65 fl. oz water
  • 1 oz baking soda
  • 0.5 oz basil
  • 1 tbsp coarse sea salt

Instructions:

Heat the milk until lukewarm. Mix it with lukewarm water and yeast in a bowl. Let it stand for 10 minutes. Then add the flour, 1.5 OZ. butter, sugar, and salt. Knead for 5 to 7 minutes until it forms a smooth dough. Finely chop the basil and add it to the dough, making sure it is evenly distributed.

Once the dough is well-prepared, take it out of the bowl and add olive oil to the bowl. Ensure the bowl is well-coated with olive oil and place the dough back in the bowl. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour. During this time, you can enjoy a HIIT & Fit workout.

Preheat the oven to 440°F when the dough has risen. Roll out the dough and divide it into 8 pieces. Shape them into pretzels. Bring a pan with 65 fl. oz of water to a boil. Add baking soda and boil the pretzels for 30 seconds, turning them halfway.

Carefully remove the pretzels and place them on parchment paper. Bake the pretzels for 12 to 14 minutes in the oven until they are beautifully golden brown. Once out of the oven, sprinkle them with coarse sea salt and serve.
