Making exercise a habit
You’ve tried multiple times to stay motivated to exercise. You see people around you who work out every day and get frustrated when they have to miss a session. Every time you want to work out, you eventually give up. In this article, you’ll learn how to turn exercise into a habit and achieve your goals!
What are your goals?
Before you start, it’s important to have a clear vision of what you want to achieve. Do you want to get fitter, or are you looking to shed a few pounds? Make sure you are constantly reminded of your goals. You can use a vision board or simply write them on a note and stick it on your fridge.
Plan your goals
Start by making a plan for the next week. It helps to schedule regular training days. Don’t plan for five days a week right away—this might be too hard to maintain in the long run.
Set priorities
Now that you’ve scheduled your goals, spontaneous things might come up, like friends asking you to do something fun on a training day. This is the moment to be strict with yourself. Stick to your workout as planned.
Don’t overdo it
When you start working on your goals, you’ll be highly motivated. There’s a chance you might overtrain by doing too much too soon. Make sure to give your body a break after each session, so your muscles have enough time to recover.
Don’t try to make up for missed sessions
If you ever have to miss a workout because something important comes up, don’t try to make it up later. Feeling like you have to catch up on missed workouts can end up being demotivating.
Find a workout buddy
