Snack bread with cheese and herbs

Requirements for 8 people:

  • Whole grain spelt bread, unsliced
  • 1 clove of fresh garlic
  • 0,4 oz fresh chives
  • 0,5 oz fresh basil
  • 3 oz aged cheese
  • 7 oz cream cheese
  • 1 oz unsalted butter

Extra:

  • Piping bag

Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Cut the bread diagonally on the top, about 1 inch deep, but not all the way through. Then, cut the bread perpendicular to the previous cut, creating a diamond pattern.

Finely chop the garlic, chives, and basil, including the stems. Grate the cheese. In a bowl, combine the garlic, herbs, grated cheese, and cream cheese, and mix well. Season with freshly ground pepper. Transfer the mixture into a piping bag.

Pipe the cream cheese mixture into the cuts in the bread. Grate the butter over the bread.

Place the bread on a piece of aluminium foil and bake for approximately 20 minutes in the oven. Remove from the oven and transfer it to a serving board. Now, everyone can tear off a piece to enjoy.
